My name is Ron. I'm 29 and work in computer software support and have an office in my home. I love the freedom of working from home which allows me to work on a small business venture I have going on the side. I don't need the money, as the tech job pays really well but I've always had an interest in photography and with digital cameras and photo editing software, I've turned a hobby into a money making venture. I'll do a few weddings each year, take family pictures and have done some boudoir photography also. I don't make a lot of money on photography but I enjoy it. I'm single too, so I have plenty of time. I was married for a few months but things just didn't work out and I've been a little reluctant to get into any long term relationship again. I'm sure that will change once I meet the right person but I'm in not going to rush into anything again.
I have one older brother, Rick, who married a single mom, Kathy, who got pregnant in her teens. Their daughter, my niece, Tina is now 18, almost 19. I always looked up to my big brother but he is several years older than me, so we never developed a close relationship. He was away at college by the time I was in my teens, then he started his career and got married. We keep in touch and we'd do anything for each other but it's not like we spend a lot of time with each other. We'll see each other during the holidays or family functions but that's about it. I'm a single guy again and he's married with a step daughter so we don't have a lot in common either.
Tina has been a handful throughout her teen years, having become a rebellious, wild young woman. I know my brother and his wife have had their hands full with her. He's not her biological father and she throws that up in his face a lot. Her mom tends to defend her, so Rick is in a no win situation. Last year, they went away for the weekend and, from what I heard, Tina had quite the party in their absence. The police were called to break it up and the house was a wreck when they got back. The whole incident caused some friction between my brother and his wife and I know he was hoping Tina would go away to college but she decided to take a year off "to find herself," so she's basically loafing around the house.
Rick called me a few months ago wondering if Tina could stay with me while he and Kathy took a seven day cruise. They couldn't trust her to be alone in the house after what happened the last time and needed help. I asked why she couldn't stay with a friend but they knew she'd end up having another party if she was close to home. I live about fifty miles from them in a three bedroom condo so they thought I had the room and she'd be too far away from her friends to get into any trouble. I wasn't real anxious to babysit a pain in the ass teenager so I told my brother I'd think about it.
Even though we aren't close, Rick is still my brother so, I guess, the family bond and a little bit of self-guilt made me decide to agree to let Tina stay with me for the week. I knew they needed a break from parenting and my niece probably needed a break from them too. I called my brother to tell him she could stay with me and he was thrilled. He then asked if they could drop her off a couple of days early so they could spend some extra time in Florida before the cruise ship left. Another day or two wouldn't make any difference so I agreed. What I thought was going to be seven day stay, turned into ten.
I figured, how bad could it be? I quickly found out. When Rick and Kathy dropped Tina off at my condo, she was not a happy camper. She had that typical teenage girl attitude and quickly made it known she didn't want to be there. She felt she was 18, old enough to take care of herself and had no need for a "babysitter." When her parents told her she was going to stay with me for ten days, she had a temper tantrum for the entire week. Rick apologized to me for her attitude and thanked me profusely and told me he owed me one. I didn't want to make him feel worse but I was thinking he was going to owe me more than one. I was fearing this was going to be worse than I imagined.
I hadn't seen Tina in a year or so and noticed how grown up she had become, physically anyway. She has light brown hair and blue eyes, standing about 5'6", and weighting maybe 125 lbs. She wasn't fat but had some meat on her bones that showed in a round, tight ass. She had nice, full breasts that I'm guessing were 34 b's maybe c cups. She definitely wore too much makeup like a lot of teen girls do. It's like she was trying too hard to be pretty.
After her parents left, Tina barely said a word to me all evening. She spent most of her time on her phone, texting her friends and I'm assuming, spending time on social media. I made tacos for dinner and we barely said a word to each other. She went into the guest room early and I didn't see her again until morning. I was thinking this was going to be the worst ten days of my life since my divorce.
The next morning, Tina didn't want breakfast but quickly changed her mind after she smelled the bacon cooking so I made us both bacon and eggs. She still didn't talk too much but I was able to, at least, get her into a little conversation. I had some work to do and told her to keep herself busy and we could do something when I was done. She didn't seem interested at all.
The nice thing about working from home is I can work at my own pace without someone looking over my shoulder. I knew Tina would be visiting so I got a lot of my work done before she got there, thinking we could spend some uncle/niece time together and get to know each other better. I didn't think her attitude would be this bad. She would barely talk to me, was stomping her feet and slamming doors all morning. After almost 24 hours of her bullshit, I finally told her that we were going to be together for the next nine days so we should make the best of it.
She went on a rage, "I'm almost 19 years old. I'm an adult and I don't need a babysitter. I can't believe my mom and Rick did this to me."
Tina went on for a while before I told her bluntly, "Shut the fuck up already, you spoiled brat. I didn't invite you here. My brother asked me to let you stay here. It wasn't my idea so don't take it out on me. Get the fuck over it already. If you just lose the attitude, we might be able to relax and actually have some fun."
Tina was stunned by my bluntness and stormed off to her room, leaving me shaking my head in frustration. I didn't know what I would do if this went on for nine more days. I went to my computer and started doing some photo editing, figuring I might as well get some work done while the little bitch pouts.
I didn't hear my niece come out of her room and she scared the shit out of me when she came up behind me and asked, "What are you doing?"
She began to laugh at me being startled. I responded, "What are trying to do to me; give me a heart attack?" I began to laugh too. The ice was beginning to crack.
She then pulled up a chair next to me and I showed her some basic photo editing. The photos were from a wedding I just did and she was amazed at how much a picture could be edited. I gave some people funny faces and put men's heads on women's bodies, very basic stuff but it captured her attention and it made her smile. I then showed her some of my cameras and showed her how to use them. She was acting like an actual human being and not a bratty teenager. Maybe, just maybe, this wouldn't be as bad as I thought.
I then asked Tina if she wanted to go out and take some pictures and she jumped at the chance. We walked to a local park and I let her use one of my older cameras and let her snap away at various people, flowers, trees, the sky or whatever attracted her attention. We enjoyed a late lunch and headed back to the condo to upload her photos and let her try some editing. We were having a great time. We laughed again when we talked about her scaring me in the morning.
