Breath caught in Debbie's chest as her eyes nearly pop out of her head. She looks at her new roommate. Distraught, she groans, "KELLY!?!?! What the fuuuuuuuck!?!?!?" The awkward girl pulls the covers over her head and rolls over to her side to face the wall and away from her intruder. She reaches up and pulls her hands to her face in embarrassment with her wet fingers. It is a surprisingly sweet scent that lingers on her fingers and now on her own face, but the morbid shame that is washing over her body takes over.
Kelly giggles loudly and playfully shoves Debbie's left shoulder from behind. "Oooh stop it! I told you, it's perfectly normal. I do it all the time. Here... I brought this for you." Bzzzzzz! Debbie pulls the covers down quickly and shoots her head back to her roommate as she looks from over her shoulder. Kelly is holding the pink vibrator Debbie found earlier and has turned it on.
Debbie rolls back to the wall and groans with shame causing Kelly to laugh loudly and genuinely before moving back to her own bed. She throws the vibrator on her desk with a heavy thunk and snaps on the desk lamp. She props her back against the wall and looks at the lump of covers with a tangled mess of black hair popping out from the top across the dimly lit room. "Hey, Debbie hun... seriously, it's fine." No response from the other side.
Suddenly, guilt starts to wash over Kelly. She feels she has, once again, crossed an invisible line. She has done this on more than one occasion with damn near everyone. But the difference is, aside from the fact that they are stuck together for the foreseeable future in this tiny dorm room, but she actually likes Debbie. Sure, there is no doubt that she is weird and awkward, but she could tell she was sweet and sincere and just needed a friend in her life. "Hey...? Please talk to me... "
"What?" Debbie responds gruffly. She is still embarrassed and mortified, but for the second time in the past 8 hours, she was rejected from something that has escaped her her entire life. She has given up on the proverbial "Big O" as God has others plans.
She doesn't like the response she gets from Debbie and is almost hurt by the coldness of her tone. Not yet ready to give up on this new budding friendship, Kelly shuffles off her bed and moves across the room. She lifts the comforter off of the edge of Debbie's bed and sneaks into her bed behind her.
"Ummm... What are you doing?" Debbie looks over her should behind her as the blonde girl sidles up to her rear.
Kelly reaches around and under Debbie's arm and puts her left hand on the girl's sweat shirt covered shoulder. "Shh... I promise you, everything is fine. I really don't mind. We are roommates, and dare I say? Friends. You can tell me anything and everything about you, what you are feeling, or anything that bothers you."
Oddly, this is comforting to hear for Debbie. Her level of friendships have been disgustingly low and pitiful, but here was this pretty girl who seemed genuinely interested in being a friend. She has never been accepted by anyone, let alone one of the pretty girls. She tries to take a deep breath to steady her nerves, "Ok, it's fine."
Kelly pulls her in tightly hugging her from behind. Debbie can feel Kelly's breath against the back of her neck through her thick black hair. A faint flowery smell hits her nose as Kelly lies behind her. Debbie allows and welcomes the hug.
Debbie has never felt the warmth of a genuine hug outside of her parents. She closes her eyes and is comforted. All of her embarrassment and torment washed away in an instant. She feels as though she has known Kelly for years. She lets out a low sigh of satisfaction.
Kelly hears her light moan and smiles knowing that everything is once again okay. She reaches up and starts to play with Debbie's hair, softly running her fingers through the slightly tangles. Debbie's hair smiles faintly like coconut from whatever shampoo it is she uses. "Debbie, I have to know... Do I make you uncomfortable at all?"
